Honouring Your Body (Ahimsa) & Medical Precautions/Contraindications
Ahimsa, Pain, and Listening to the Body
Programs like CORE GONE WILD are great because they’re convenient and easy to use. Not only can you do them at home (when you want), but they’re also affordable. However, it's important to realize that this is an ONLINE program. We do not see you face-to-face, so we cannot fully oversee your practice or your form, and we are not familiar with your skill level or individual needs. Because of this, we cannot fully advise you on what might work best for you.
And while we are doing our best to make this program accessible (i.e. by offering modifications, multiple formats, feedback etc.) it is also your responsibility to understand your needs and listen to your body. Ensure you modify this course to suit YOU in the best way possible. In this way, you are honouring your journey. It does mean you are behind or incapable. It’s just where you are in this moment-and that’s okay! With consistent practice, you WILL progress and you CAN reach your goals.
While this program provides an outline, you should not follow it blindly. In other words, always listen & honour your body by never pushing it beyond what feels safe and stable.
Never ignore the signals your body may be giving you. If you’re tired, not feeling well, or are just too sore to practice (or otherwise) then take a day off (or two or more). When you’re ready, restart the program where you left off.
Signals Your Body is Telling you to STOP:
-“Strange” or “uncomfortable” sensations
-Sharp pain
-Bone on bone sensations
-Achy joints
Speak with a medical professional if these issues do not resolve and prevent you from going on with the course.
We also recommend that you see a medical professional prior to starting this program (or any exercise program) to ensure you are fit for practice.
This program is not intended for pregnant clients as many of the movements are not safe for pregnancy. If you have any ongoing issues, pain, surgery, or injuries, we highly recommend that you see a physician PRIOR to starting the program.
If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] and we will help you figure out what the best plan of action might be!
